It’s summertime. A time when most people think of basking in the sun, beach trips, and buses. Wait, what? If you’re in the transportation department of school districts across the nation, then you know. It’s time for school bus shows.
There are two different bus shows where Kajeet will be attending and exhibiting in July, and we hope you will be at one (or both!) of them.
STN EXPO
The annual North American School Bus EXPO Conference & Trade Show, STN EXPO, will take place in Reno, Nevada, from July 9 through 12. More than 1,000 transportation professionals will join together to explore the latest innovation and best practices for this industry.
This year’s EXPO tracks include: safety needs and head start; safety and security; management and operations; and maintenance and technology.
In order to help you make the most of your STN EXPO experience, here are a few sessions we recommend you attend. Let us know what other sessions are on your list.
Advances in School Bus Route Optimization
Join this discussion on the evolution of technology and the impact on school bus routing and scheduling. Learn about the most efficient way to keep track of school bus fleets.
Case Studies in School Bus Wi-Fi
Kevin Easley, director of transportation, Raytown Quality Schools, Missouri, and Dan Mannix, superintendent, Beekmantown Central School District, New York, join Michael Flood, VP of strategy at Kajeet to share their experience with providing Wi-Fi on school buses. This Monday session will focus on how Wi-Fi has assisted in student learning and discuss the overall increase of mobile learning.
Keynote: “The Greatest Show on Wheels is the Greatest Show on Wheels”
You won’t want to miss this Monday afternoon keynote given by Jesus Villahermosa, Jr., an internationally renowned safety and security expert. Hear from Villahermosa on the how and why for establishing the three R’s with students: Rapport, Recognition, and Respect.
Trade Show
While this is not a session, the trade show should be on your list to visit in between sessions. Monday night there will be a networking extravaganza in the expo hall. We would love to see you there – booth #143. The trade show continues on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

NSTA Annual Meeting and Convention
National School Transportation Association (NSTA) is hosting their annual convention in Indianapolis, Indiana from July 17 through 19. The association provides another opportunity to learn about the latest in the school bus industry from colleagues.
The association was created over 50 years ago to provide school transportation professionals with the necessary tools and resources to make school buses safe, secure, affordable, and efficient across the nation.
For those who arrive early, there is a Safety Competition which takes place all day Sunday. However, general sessions begin on that Monday.
Hear updates on legislation, the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT), and more.
Monday at 12:45 p.m. there is a technology panel moderated by Kobussen Bus, Ltd. After that, make sure to attend another Kajeet session with Michael Flood from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. focused on Wi-Fi on school buses.
